Playing with colour

Had some fun today playing with my new colours:

Colour swatches with Derwent Inktense pencils, mixture of dry and with water added with a brush afterwards


Then I tried dipping the pencil in water before drawing, which made the marks stronger and the colours deeper:



Playing with various levels of wetness and dryness, wetting before and after applying to the paper, using as paint, using as pencil, painting with a brush after drawing, colour blending:


Top row here: using colour sticks dry, then painting over with a paintbrush, trying to obtain the greens and yellows of the beads I used in Tropical Tourist; middle row: drawing with dry sticks and painting over; bottom row: dipping colour sticks in water and using straight onto the paper, experimenting to see how opaque or transparent the colours would be when used in this way:
