Demonstration of technical skills – materials, techniques, observational skills, visual awareness, design and compositional skill

I think I am improving in this area, some of the techniques I found more difficult, such as the watercolour work; others more easy, such as the yarn wraps; but all the exercises were new to me and so I don’t feel that I have mastered them yet, but will definitely come back to them in the future for further exploration and experimentation.

Quality of outcome – content, application of knowledge, presentation of work in a coherent manner, discernment, conceptualisation of thoughts, communication of ideas

I think the colour resource book is the main concrete outcome of this part of the course and I think I have mostly made good choices about what content to include and exclude. I have applied the knowledge I have gained from working with books in order to plan, order and arrange the content of this book in a coherent way which communicates my journey through the exercises in this part of the course.

Demonstration of creativity – imagination, experimentation, invention, development of a personal voice

I think that I have demonstrated these attributes fairly well here, in the way that I have tried to come up with different ways of presenting my work: such as pockets and flaps within my book and the addition of a button colour palette alongside the yarn wraps.

Context – reflection, research, critical thinking

I think I am still developing skills and the confidence to express my views in this area. I think I need to take more time to do the research before, during and after doing my own work. I think I know what I like but I don’t always know why I like it or how to talk about it.
